How to Boil An Egg (and win all the egg)
How to boil an egg?
Why was this skill not listed under “basic” in my mental cookbook along side of cooking noodles and browning meat?
Tragically… I’d try and try but had the same 2 results…
1. I lost a ton of egg due to it hanging on for dear life to the inside of its shell
2. The shell would wound my thumb during our all out battle to win the boiled treasure inside
Thankfully… my good friend, who lovingly raises the chickens that lay our eggs, taught me the proper way to boil eggs.
It’s almost sexy how smoothly the shell comes off!!!
And best of all… I win the battle… I win ALL the egg… so suck it shell!!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- boiling pot
- slotted spoon
- large bowl
- more water
Bring a pot of water to a good… rolling boil (make sure there is enough water to cover the eggs)
Using a slotted spoon… carefully place eggs into the boiling water
Leave the eggs in the boiling water (uncovered) for 14 minutes
While eggs are cooking… fill large bowl with ice water… set aside
When time is up… use slotted spoon to scoop out eggs… place into iced water
Leave in iced water for 15 minutes
Take off the shell with ease… BATTLE WON!!!
Something else that should be filed under “basic” in my mental cookbook… jello… it ALWAYS has a nasty film on the bottom… I’ve tried using super hot water and making sure all the powder is dissolved but… no go… I suck at it… suggestions please!!
